Steven Smith has designed, constructed
and installed landscapes for custom residential and
commercial properties for over 30 years. In 1987 he
added a complete landscape maintenance division which
specializes in homeowners associations, apartment complexes,
and various commercial properties in San Diego county.
Steven Smith Landscape, Inc. has been honored by
CLCA with beautification awards for outstanding landscape
construction. Mr. Smith's work has been recognized
by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA)
and the San Diego Historical Society.
Mr. Smith was Chairman of the Board for the California
Landscape Contractors Association in 1994 after serving
as President in 1993. In addition, he is a Certified
Landscape Technician of Construction (CTL-C), a certificate
instituted by the California Landscape Contractors
Association designed to show expertise in the field
of landscape construction.
He is a member of the San Diego County and Otay
Water District Water Conservation Technical Committees
and has assisted many other local water districts
to achieve water savings through improved irrigation
management. Mr. Smith is also past chairman of the
CLCA State Water Committee and was awarded Member
of the Year 1991 by the San Diego Chapter of the
CLCA.
In 1996, Mr. Smith was asked to join a "Blue
Ribbon Advisory Committee" to help develop strategies
for community awareness and funding for a Water Conservation
Garden on the campus of Cuyamaca College. This will
be called the "Landscapes San Diego Style" Garden
and Learning Center and will be a tool to teach the
importance of conserving water and promoting compatibility
with the native environment.
Finally, Mr. Smith is a Certified Water Auditor
and provides water audits for residential and commercial
clients.
