  Steven Smith - President
  • In 1982, Steve Smith started his business installing landscapes in southern California for residential, industrial and commercial enterprises. In 1987, he added a maintenance division. As a native, Steve strives to stay on top of San Diego county’s landscape challenges i.e.: drought, fire, and pest infestations by having sat on the San Diego County technical committee and City of San Diego Water Conservation Task Force. As a Certified Landscape Technician of Construction (CLT-C) and a Certified Water Auditor, he stays educated about the latest in technical developments. As part of this process, Steve recently became a CLCA Certified Irrigation Manager. Steve served as a past chairman of the CLCA State Water Committee and received the member of the year in 1991 by the San Diego chapter of the CLCA. Steve was elected as president in 1993 and in 1994 chairman of the board of the California Landscape Contractors Association. In 1996, Steve was invited to join a Blue Ribbon Advisory Committee to develop the Water Conservation Garden on the campus of Cuyamaca College.

  Chris Cutler – Vice President: Maintenance Superintendent
  • Chris Cutler is our Maintenance Superintendent in charge or our Maintenance Division. He oversees 4 Maintenance Supervisors in charge of all our ever increasing amount of maintenance crews. Chris passed the CLCA Water Management Certification written exam in March 2009 and is up to date with the latest water saving technology such as “Smart Controllers.” Chris has earned both a Certified Technician of Maintenance (CLT-M) and Certified Technician of Irrigation (CLT-I). Chris is also a Certified Water Auditor and has a Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) for pesticide applications. His range of expertise covers all aspects of the landscape business.

  Scott Campbell – Construction Superintendent
  • Scott Campbell has been with Steven Smith Landscape, Inc since 1992 and is our Construction Superintendent. Scott passed the CLCA Water Management Certification written exam in March 2009 and is up to date with the latest water saving technology such as “Smart Controllers.” Scott is also a Certified Landscape Technician of Irrigation (CLT-I) and has field experience with equipment operation, irrigation design, and large tree installations with the use of cranes. Scott is responsible for supervising all our Construction jobs and works closely with our homeowner, contractor, and Landscape Architect clientele, and all our sub-contractors. He manages projects with hardscape, softscape, ponds, pools, waterfalls, and patio structures.

  Gigi Golden-Smith – Marketing Director
  • Gigi is in charge of our company’s marketing program. She is an active member in the Community Association Institute and serves as chairperson for the annual Day at the Races event. Gigi works with Steven and our Superintendents on proposals and contracts for both the maintenance and installation divisions of our company.

  Armando Diaz - Maintenance Supervisor
  • Armando Diaz had 10 years of landscape maintenance experience when he was hired as a maintenance crew foreman with us at Steven Smith Landscape Inc. in 1998. After proving himself in the field and his success in our in-house CLT and landscape training program, Armando earned a Certified Landscape Technician-Maintenance (CLT-M). This is a credential that is kept through annual classes and testing issued through a state regulated program. He is presently working on getting his Certified Landscape Technician-Irrigation (CLT-I). In 2004, Armando became a Maintenance Supervisor increasing his responsibilities from one crew to 12. He oversees some of our largest county wide accounts.

  Gilbert Fonseca – Maintenance Supervisor
  • Gilbert Fonseca brings to Steven Smith Landscape, Inc. 8 years of landscape experience specializing in Home Owner’s Association maintenance. He is one of our maintenance supervisors and has earned a Certified Landscape Technician in Maintenance- CLT-M. Gilbert also has achieved accreditation working with reclaimed water as a Recycled Water Site Supervisor.

  Del Kitts – Maintenance Supervisor
  • Del Kitts is one of our Maintenance Supervisors and has been in the landscape industry since 1979 and with Steven Smith Landscape, Inc. since 2005. Del is a Certified Landscape Technician of Maintenance (CLT-M), an official Recycled Water Site Supervisor, and a Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) for pesticide use. Del has also completed the National Safety Council First Aid Course. Del oversees 16 landscape crews.

  Michael Fontana – Maintenance Supervisor
  • Michael Fontana comes from our construction division where he managed every scale of installation and renovation project, including a county wide reclaimed water retrofit project and large estate work. He has earned a Certified Landscape Technician in Construction (CLT-C) and is currently in a program to earn Certified Technician of Irrigation (CLT-I), Water Management and Recycled Water Certificates. Michael had 14 years of experience in landscape before he came to Steven Smith Landscape, Inc. in 1996 and is now working as a Maintenance Supervisor.
